Hemis is the name of the biggest monastery in Ladakh and the courtyard of Hemis Gompa is the stage for famous Hemis Festival which is celebrated on the 10th day (Tses- Chu) of the Tibetan lunar month as the birthday of Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche), the founder of Tibetan Buddhism as the local people celebrates the birthday of Padmasambhava (Guru Rimpoche), the founder of Tibetan Buddhism this day.This 200 years old tradition introduced by Ladakh's ruling family in 18th century, is a two days colourful festival when the resident Lamas of Ladakhper form sacred masked dance leading to the destruction of the sacrificial offerings. These masks represent various guardian divinities of the Dugpaorder, of which Hemis is the leading establishment in the region. As the Hemis festival is held during the peak summer season.

Day 1: Arrive Leh
On arrival at leh airport, you will be met by our representative at the airport and escort you to Hotel. Complete day for the acclimatization which is 3500 Meters above sea level. In the evening short walk around Leh bazaar Overnight at Hotel.

Day 2: Leh - Hemis festival
After early breakfast complete day to enjoy the most popular and famous festival of the Ladakh region known as Hemis festival (held from 02nd-03rd July'2009) which is celebrated at Hemis monastery only. Enjoy the festival in the evening return back to Leh. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 3: Leh - Monasteries
After breakfast half day for the festival in the afternoon return back on the way back visit to Thiksey monastery and Shey Palace which commands magnificent view of the mountains and sindh river. And you can visit also Tibetan refugee camp at Choglamsar. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 4: Leh- Alchi - Uletokpo 75 Kms
Leave for Uletokpo camping which is one of the most beautiful camping in the Ladakh region on the way visit Spituk monastery which is just 5 Kms from Leh town. Continue drive to Alchi monastery is the only monastery in the Ladakh on flat ground. By the lunch time you will reach Uletokpo. Evening enjoy to sit on the bank of river coming down from the Ridzong side. Overnight at Camp.

Day 5: Uletokpo - Lamayuru - Leh 180 Kms
Leave Uletokpo and continue drive to Lamayuru via Khaltsi. From here another 22 Kms drive will take you to Lamayuru. The oldest and spectacularly set Lamayuru monastery founded in the 10th Century. Visit the monastery. In the late afternoon drive back to Leh which will take about 4/5 hours drive, on the way back we stop at magnetic hill. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 6: Leh - Monasteries
After breakfast, short trek to Tsemo gompa which commands one of the most beautiful view of the Leh town on the way back visit to King's Palace and local gompa. Afternoon visit to Shanker gompa, Shanti Stupa and Leh bazaar and Leh gompa. Overnight at Hotel

Day 7: Depart Leh
After breakfast transfer in time to the airport to connect onwards destination flight. Tour ends here.
