All other than those listed in above inclusions Day 01: Arrival Cochin Upon arrival in Cochin airport our representative will meet you at the airport followed by transfer to the Hotel. A port town since early centuries, Cochin, also known as the spice coast of India, attracted traders and invaders from the world over. Needless to say, Cochin offers you some fascinating snippets of history and culture. Relax and unwind at the hotel. In the evening you can go for a relaxing sunset cruise. (Overnight stay in Cochin). (Vehicle: At disposal) Day 02: Cochin After breakfast, at 09.00am proceed for sight seeing tour of Cochin visiting - ‘The Jewish Synagogue’ at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town, ‘The St. Francis Church’, the oldest European Church in India, ‘The Santa Cruz Basilica’ originally built in 1557 by the Portuguese, The Dutch Palace, Spice market at the narrow streets. Later break for lunch at a nice hotel in the old town. Return to hotel and evening for own activities. (Overnight stay in Cochin.) Day 03: Cochin – Munnar (145 Kms / 4 hrs) Drive to Munnar a hill station located 1600 meters above sea level. Once the summer resort of the erstwhile British administration in South India it still retains its colonial charm and is famous for its tea plantations, most of which are privately owned. With its sprawling estates, rolling hills, sparkling waterfalls, picture postcard hamlets and undulating valleys, Munnar is an ideal holiday destination. Check into your hotel and unwind. Rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the ambience of Munnar. (Overnight stay in Munnar). (Vehicle: At disposal) Day 04: Munnar To Periyar (110 Kms / 3 hrs) Check out from hotel after breakfast at 09.00am and drive to Periyar (also known as Thekkady). The name Periyar comes after the Dam made here by the English in 1895. A wild life reserve hence is an ideal place to track down wild life such as Elephants, Bison, Deer and numerous other varieties of birds. By 4:00 p.m. we will take you on a guided plantation tour to a nearby garden where various species of spices and other aromatic plants are cultivated. The guide will explain and clarify your doubts according the species used in the Indian cuisine. After the plantation tour we will visit the tea factory where you can see the process of producing the tea. Later you could undertake a wonderful elephant ride. The Elephant is the largest living land mammal found in the tropical regions of Africa and Asia. They are regarded as some of the most intelligent mammals and can be trained to work and to perform. This safari offers you a rare opportunity to experience a 30 minute ride on an elephant through the spice plantations where the air is lightly scented with spices. The landscape here is with very tropical and you will be surrounded by tea, coffee & other spices. (Overnight stay in Periyar). (Vehicle: At disposal) Day 05: Periyar After breakfast you could go for a jungle trek with an escort where you could explore the wildlife. Later proceed to most popular boat trip at the National Park - the best way to observe game in wild is by boat. There are many animals to see, including herds of elephants, bison’s and packs of wild boars that roam through the woods and parade along the shores of the lake just before sunrise and sunset. You can also see also different species of apes. The golden langur monkey that lives here is rarely seen in the rest of India. Other animals in Periyar are otters and porcupines. Water turtles can often be seen sunning themselves on the pieces of wood that stick out of the water. Osprey and Cormorants belong to the most important species of birds in this area. (Overnight stay in Periyar) Day 06: Periyar To Kumarakom (145 Kms / 4 hrs) Drive to Kumarakom is down hill through the winding roads with stunning views to Kumarakom - a rich green, sleepy little village on the Vembanad Lake. This village provides boating, fishing and sight seeing experiences that are truly exhilarating. On arrival check into hotel and rest of the day is at leisure. (Overnight stay in Kumarakom). (Transfer by boat) Day 07: Kumarakom Day at the leisure on the bank of the backwater. (Overnight stay in Kumarakom). (No Vehicle) Day 08: Kumarakom To Marari (30 Kms / 1 hrs) Drive to the picturesque fishermen’s village of Mararikulam and check into your resort.
